[Bismillahnews.in-14-10-15-Patna-Sohail Siddiqui] Bihar elections will throw surprise as it is for the first time in any Hindi belt state that left parties have unitedly contested on all seats...can India hope an alternative to NDA in the making...lets take a round up of Bihar assembly elections. [Courtesy data : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bihar_Legislative_Assembly_election, _2015#Phase_I ].Many global news reports have suggested that Bihar elections are a test for economic reforms agenda and Hindutva before the voters of Bihar and if BJP loses these election under Modi there would be serious with drawl by pro-reforms political parties from the economic reforms agenda. It is here that I observe that only group ideologically offering something concrete and different from economic reforms for development of the deprived masses economically and socially is the left front and all other parties baring left are carbon copies constituents whether in UPA or NDA. Please read with interest the ground options and players in Bihar.

How ever the division of votes benefits communal fascist parties under NDA led by BJP.I also note that these communal fascist parties have failed in communal polarization of Bihar voters...which is a welcome news. The Modi announcements of big packages for Bihar's development has rather done a different polarization in Bihar ...the have and have nots...this stands to benefit the left from which is contesting all the 243 seats. The loss of BJP is the gain of left in terms of seats.Nitish and Lalloo have hold on their castes that would remain intact and they would retain their seats if minority vote is coordinated properly, helping them retain power in Bihar.Congress would be wiped off totally as their loss too would be gain of the left front.

Janata Parivar

Nitish Kumar started his door-to-door campaign on 2 July 2015 with slogan Har Ghar Dastak.[172][173] Prashant Kishor, key strategist of Narendra Modi's election campaign team for Indian general election, 2014[174] is working with Nitish Kumar in Bihar Elections.[175][176][177][178] Janata Dal United has started 400 audio-visual vans called Jan Bhagidari Manch raths for the election campaign.[179] Nitish Kumar is launching 'Bihar Samman Sammelan' in various cities, including Delhi and Mumbai, to connect with Bihari migrants diaspora.[180] Nitish Kumar Janata Parivar is contesting through all the seats. The candidate list of JD(U),[181] RJD [182] and INC[183] was released by Nitish Kumar on his twitter account for all 243 constituencies.

National Democratic Alliance

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is using 243 GPS-monitored raths (modified Boleros) and video vans in Bihar elections.[184][185][186] BJP set up a monitoring HQ in Patna to track movement of these GPS vehicles, which will visit 40,000 villages touching all 243 assembly constituencies.[187][188] The election campaign was kick-started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Muzaffarpur on 25 July 2015 and he also inaugurated the permanent campus of IIT Patna in Bihta on the same day.[189][190][191][192] BJP election exercise in Bihar involved 3 lakh karyakartas.[184] Narendra Modi held his second election rally in Gaya on 9 August 2015.[193][194] Modi held his third rally in Ara on 18 August 2015.[195][196] Modi announced Rs 1.25 lakh crore package for Bihar.[197][198] He also laid the foundation stone for the proposed four-lane road from Patna to Buxar.[199] Modi also visited Saharsa on August 18 and held another rally.[200][201] Modi addressed his fourth rally in Bhagalpur on 1 September 2015.[202] PM Modi to address his sixth election rally at Banka on 2 October 2015,[203] followed by another rally on 4 October at Lakhisari.[204] Later, Prime Minister Modi is expected to address a poll meeting in Munger on October 8. Modi is also expected to hold rallies in Purnia, Darbhanga and Munger. Modi will address 10 rallies in October month.[205][206][207]

Socialist Secular Morcha

On 19 September 2015, The leaders of six parties - SP, NCP, Janadhikar Party of Pappu Yadav, Samras Samaj Party (SSP) of former Union minister Nagmani, NPP (National People's Party) of former Speaker P. A. Sangma and Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) of former Union minister Devendra Prasad Yadav announced formation of third front known as Socialist Secular Morcha.[208]

Left Front

On 24 July 2015, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), All India Forward Bloc, Socialist Unity Centre of India and Revolutionary Socialist Party decided to contest all 243 seats together, to provide an alternative platform other than BJP-led NDA and Janata Parivar.[9] CPI will contest 91 seats, while CPI—ML, CPI(M), SUCI, Forward Block and RSP will contest on 78, 38, 6, 5 and 3 seats respectively.[209] CPI released its first list of 81 candidates on 16 September 2015.[210]

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi addressed a rally in Kishanganj on 16 August 2015.[211][212][213] Owaisi accused Nitish, Lalu of keeping Seemanchal region (consists of 24 Assembly seats) a backward region.[214][215][216] AIMIM is contesting on 6 assembly seats in Seemanchal region where Muslim voters play a major role.[217][218][219] Telangana Legislative Assembly floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi addressed a public rally in Kishanganj on October 4 in Sontha village under Kochadhaman (Vidhan Sabha constituency).[220][221][222]

Bahujan Samaj Party

In June 2015, Bahujan Samaj Party said it will contest on all 243 seats with full strength.[223][224] In July, Bahujan Samaj Party initially released its first list of 49 candidates which included five women candidates for the assembly polls by Bharat Bind, president of the BSP Bihar unit.[225] Behan Mayawati will campaign for the candidates as party has a strong support base in dozens of assembly constituencies in Bihar.[226] BSP's first list has 11 Other Backward Class (OBCs) and 11 Muslims and the party also fielded dalits and OBCs from some general seats in the state.[227] On 6 September 2015, Mayawati said that the Modi government was being remote-controlled by the communal and fascist organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).[228][229][230] Party appointed Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Munquad Ali (Rajya Sabha MP) and Ram Achal Rajbhar to camp in Bihar and frame strategy to consolidate the dalits, Most Backward Caste (MBCs) and Muslims as these are not in a good position in Bihar academically, socially and politically.[231] On 9 September 2015, Mayawati questioned the announcement of dearness allowance (DA) by the Central government just before Bihar assembly elections and accused RSS and its affiliated organization of using 2011 religious census of Muslim Population growth to communalize environment in Bihar to help BJP in elections as well to divert attention from real issues and failure of Modi government in delivering promises. She added that religious census 2011 has good signs such as sex ratio among Muslims is 951 which is higher than the national average and slowing of Muslim population growth rate.[232] On 10 September 2015, Mayawati sought for deployment of central forces in large numbers on election duty in Bihar for free and fair polls and asked Election Commission of India to keep an eye on communal game of the BJP and also asked people to remain vigilant.[233][234] Mayawati will launch her campaign on 9 October 2015 from Banka and will campaign in all the five phases of polls. Historically, BSP always got more votes than CPI, CPM, NCP as well as Samajwadi Party in Bihar.[235]
