[Bismillahnews.in-21-10-15-New Delhi-Sohail Siddiqui] UGC comlex near ITO New Delhi has been occupied by AISA the leftist students body led by JNUSU vice president Shehla Rashid and students unions from Delhi University.Earlier hundreds of students respondent in an all party call of protest at UGC against the decision to do away with the non-National Eligibility Test (NET) fellowship, which is provided to students undertaking research in central universities across India.

The scheme is in place for providing financial assistance to students undertaking MPhil and PhD — they are provided ` 5,000 and ` 8,000 per month respectively. PhD students get assistance for four years and MPhil students for 18 months. They also get a contingency amount per year to help them carry out their research. The fellowship will not be available to students enrolling from the new academic year, officials said.

Earlier hundreds of students broke the gates and occupied the UGC front space,while an all party office was inside the UGC building negotiating,students outside were protesting.The JNUSU VP from AISA said we are not leaving till we get our demands met and issued appeal to students to come in large numbers to the UGC complex near ITO.

Comrade Anant Prakash Narayan is hospitalized after getting injured at UGC during the Protest Demo today against UGC's decision to do away with the Non-NET scholarship. The Protest is going on and we would continue it through out the night till the time our demand is fulfilled. JNUSU appeals every individual and organization to come to UGC and join the Protest.

Shehla Rashid JNUSU vice president from AISA, informed " Negotiations have failed. The UGC Chairperson did not meet us. The all-party delegation has decided not to move from here. We have decided to camp here at UGC office along with hundreds of students. Students from all over Delhi- we appeal to you to join us here." she added , Our 3 main demands: 1. Revoke the decision to discontinue non-NET fellowship. 2. Increase non-NET fellowship from 5,000 to 8,000 and from 8,000 to 12,000. 3. Provide non-NET fellowship in all universities. Come, join us at UGC office. Let the fight against fund-cut begin NOW.

The last reports indicated from the ground occupy that Delhi police under Modi government instruction is using inhuman uncivil means against the protesting students who have occupied the UGC front ground and have announced a complete sit in dharna till the demands are met.The police is not allowing the girl student protesters to go for loo...a natures call and forcing the JNUSU leader to comment " Delhi police not allowing female activists to take a leak! So much for claims of gender sensitivity. Shame on Delhi police for not allowing women activists to pee! ".

The fight for the rights of researchers future in Indian Universities might take a big toll on the Academic session as students are in the midst of the year...and it looks like a complete wash out for the current year as even many teachers from Delhi Universities have joined the dharna protest.

The RSS and BJP along with its Sangh Parivar have appointed a 12th pass person as education Minister as they have a hidden agenda of closing down all kind of researches and higher education for Indians.Educated India is detrimental to their implementation of ideologically irrational and unscientific curriculum which they want to impose on India.This killing of funds for researches is the first step towards implementation of saffronisation of education and opening gates for third rated foreign Universities to do business in name of education.

This protest might witness the biggest ever protest as the saffron state is on one side and liberal education supporters on the other.
