A Budget of Betrayal : Arun Jaitley doesn’t Address the Burning Issues Facing The Common People and The Indian Economy

[Bismillahnews.in-29-02-16-New Delhi-Press Release] The budget presented today by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley does not address the burning issues facing the common people and the Indian economy, while blaming “an unsupportive global environment, adverse weather conditions and an obstructive political atmosphere” for the growing economic hardship.

The budget does not even mention the Food Security Act which is yet to be implemented in full. The only reference to public distribution system is made in the form of proposed ‘automation’ of three lakh fair price shops. While promising an increased emphasis on irrigation, the government has done little to address the credit crunch and procurement crisis which lie at the heart of the deepening agrarian crisis that continues to drive thousands of Indian farmers to suicide in every month.

The vague promise of setting up a funding agency for higher education with a meagre corpus of Rs 1,000 crore does in no way address, let alone answer, the crisis on the higher education front where students from middle class and poor backgrounds are being systematically priced out. There is no major initiative on the health sector either – the government seems to be only interested in leaving poor patients at the mercy of an increasingly expensive and ever expanding PPP mode.

While as many as 75 lakh middle class households responded to the government’s appeal to give up LPG subsidy, the super rich continues to violate tax laws and default on repayment of bank loans. Yet, the government has extended no benefit to the middle class while continuing to pamper the rich with greater exemptions, tax amnesties and even incentives to violate the laws of the land. The regressive character of India’s taxation policy has been further reinforced in this year’s budget with the government going for added cess and surcharges on goods and services, leaving corporate tax rates unchanged and announcing only a minor increase of 3% surcharge on annual personal income of more than Rs one crore.

The huge jump in the allocation of the road transportation sector from Rs 28679 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 69,422 in 2015-16 (revised estimate) to 1,03,386 crore in this year’s budget clearly shows the government is bearing a growing burden of road construction projects while the private players in PPP mode are walking away with all the benefits. 

Indian banking sector is reeling under the burden of huge corporate defaults and the Rs 25,000 crore allocated for recapitalization of banks will hardly provide any cushion to the public sector banks. The announcement of lowering of government stake in IDBI from more than 80% at present to less than 51% clearly indicates that the government is only interested in using the banking sector crisis as a pretext for privatization.

CPI(ML) appeals to all to press the government to provide for immediate full implementation of the Food security Act, expansion of MNREGA, availability of greater quantities of easier and cheaper credit for farmers and for people engaged in various livelihood-related projects and small enterprises and increased allocation on health and education fronts.

" This is not the first time that Indian media and their analysts have reacted absurdly to a terror attack. It has become a standardized practice of our neighbouring country to put the blame on Pakistan as soon as they hear any news of mishap. Many such allegations of terror attacks on Pakistan have ultimately proven to be a false flag.  

There was a number of attacks took place on Indian military in neighbouring areas of Pathankot. In most of these incidents attackers were wearing army fatigues. On friday, five gunmen in army uniform hijacked a vehicle of a senior police officer. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Pathankot-Jammu highway. Apparently the pathankot attack and snatching of police vehicle are interconnected.The question here is that why there wasn’t any proactive steps taken by the Indian authorities to avoid  the Pathankot attack.  

According to reports, the vehicle carrying gunmen easily entered the boundaries of Pathankot airbase without any confrontation with the guards. The entrance barriers of Airbase was removed exclusively for the vehicle to enter.This either indicates the deficiency in operational capability of Indian military, or this attack was just an addition in the list of Indian false flags.  

As Pathankot is close to India’s border with Pakistan (Probably this is the only reason Indian has blamed Pakistan), It is also on the highway that connects India’s insurgency wracked Jammu and Kashmir state with the rest of the country. Jammu and Kashmir is the most militarized zone of the world, where Kashmiri people have been fighting for their freedom for almost six decades.  

Furthermore, Indian Punjab is also facing a throttle in struggle by the Sikh community against the Indian state. Alike the people of Kashmir, Sikh community has also been demanding for separation from India.  

In such a scenario, It would be better for Indian media to highlight the operational and tactical deficiencies of Indian forces in countering insurgency rather blaming Pakistan for every next attack. To avoid such attacks it is also necessary for the Indian authorities to work for the solution of Kashmir issue as per the will of people of Kashmir. In addition, the grievances of Sikh community also need to be heard.

Another social media post which has been shared by thousands of Pakistani's post the Pathankot Airbase Attacks is in Urdu which claims that India after Mumbai false terror has on the beginning of the year has conducted itself the attacks on its Airbase and blamed Pakistan for these.The Urdu post below questions why was Pathankot Airbase entry gate removed one day before the attacks..? and the people around it their were asked at five [5pm] to vacate the entire area before the alleged attacks..why ? 

The above post also writes that after Gen Raheel had declared 2016 as the last year for terrorists this false allegation on Pakistan has been by India through this Indian drama ...false flag.

He also contributed to the Urdu world as founder Editor of popular Urdu publications of the subcontinent like Monthly Urdu Digest "HUMA" and Islamic Digests "HUDA and TAHA", which are India’s largest circulated Islamic Digests in Urdu and Hindi and have significantly contributed to the propagation of Islamic values till date,Even when he was on bed during last six months he brought out singly special issues  of Huda.

Till date he is credited with 100 plus special issues of Huda islamic Digest which carry a special demand and weight in the scholarly circles.In his entire life he has been secular with personal associations.He inherited a rich family background of freedom fighters and went to jail several times along with his father in his journalistic mission post Independence as printer,publisher of Urdu Daily Nai Duniya,Delhi [1952-63].

Known as Abbu to his six children,Bhaijaan to his brothers and sisters,Mustafa to his friends,Rahi saheb to his colleague’s and Abba to his grand children he was extremely loved and respected.
